Good Friday 2020 -- His Unprecedented Sacrifice of Love

It’s Good Friday, yes, good for our souls, yet gory for our Savior. On this dark day, the old rugged Cross awaited His agony.

Truly, that first Good Friday was exceedingly overwhelming for Jesus, and surely, every Good Friday since has been exceedingly overwhelming for everyone who has loved Him.

Father God gave His Only Son, yes, He sent the Darling of Heaven to die in our place. If that says anything, it says: "God’s not mad at us; He’s mad about us!"

How can we not now return our all, our best, our love in His direction? How can we not with thanksgiving turn once and for all from the darkness and walk in the light as He is in the light? Will we or won’t we express our gratitude to Him in the most genuine way possible, by practicing repentance -- that is, by turning totally from sin and turning completely to Him?

Before Jesus would breathe His last breath on Calvary, He asked the Father to forgive those He was dying for. Will we not now repent and receive that tender mercy? Good Friday demands that we choose between sin and Him. If we fail to receive His forgiveness and will not let Him become our Life, there remains no excuse for our eternally lost souls.

Friends, Jesus paid it all. He’s done His part, the hardest part, the holiest part. What a Friend we’ve found in Jesus. Will we now be found running into His loving embrace of amazing grace for forever or will we today, walk away, and make a mockery of His unprecedented sacrifice of Love on our behalf?

Personally, I say: "Thanks be to God for His indescribable Gift!" 2 Corinthians 9:15
