Advent Assurances. Increase Peace.

From my District Newsletter article, today…

In Luke’s Gospel, we find Advent assurances, yes, comforting words from the Heavenly angel and the Nazarene virgin, yes spoken words to increase our peace concerning God’s faithfulness.

First, hear the words of the Heavenly angel named Gabriel:

"For every promise from God shall surely come true!" Luke 1:37, Living Letters

Second, hear the words from the Nazarene virgin named Mary:

"He has not forgotten His promise to be merciful." Luke 1:54:b, Living Letters

Let us claim these Advent assurances as our own. Let us saturate again and again in these written words of comfort spoken by Gabriel and Mary.

Finally, here’s a Christmas song from my own playlist that also delivers Advent assurance in my own life. As you listen, I pray that your peace will increase.

Out-of-This-World “Peace”

This thought about true Peace has been deep enough to hold my mind in delight all day…

“The Peace that Jesus brought to Bethlehem when He was born is Peace from out-of-this-world, yet Peace for this world.” -kww

The Revelation of Redemption

“The revelation of Redemption means that Jesus Christ came here in order that by means of His Death on the Cross He might put the whole human race on a redemptive basis, so making possible for everyone to get back into perfect communion with God!”

"Holy Days: "No Sad Stories Here!"

The approaching holy days [holidays] mean many things to me, personally. One thing is this, they are the greatest of days for reflecting on cherished memories of my family.

Today, as i reflect, i remember Dad’s tender words as cancer was about to end his earthly life: "NO SAD STORIES HERE!" These words still move me deep within. -kww

"Lord, Teach Us TO Pray!"

These words from Luke 11:1 have been speaking profoundly to me over the past 24 hours or so: "Lord, teach us TO pray…" Yes, Dear Lord, when it comes to prayer please just teach me TO DO IT! -kww

Believing Leads to Seeing

The world says “to see is to believe.” However, in John 11:40, Jesus says “to believe is to see.”

“Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that IF YOU BELIEVE [in ME], YOU WILL SEE the glory of God [the expression of His excellence]?” Jesus words recorded in John‬ ‭11‬:‭40‬ ‭[AMP]

Lord, please help me to believe totally! Amen!

Tender Prayers By The Psalmist

“Keep your promise and don't let me stumble or let sin control my life. Protect me from abuse, so I can obey your laws. Smile on me, your servant, and teach me your laws. When anyone disobeys you, my eyes overflow with tears.” Psalms‬ 119‬:‭133‬-‭136‬ ‭CEV‬‬

"The Message of Heaven Matters Now and Later"

"Be leary of people on earth who minimize the inheritance of Heaven ultimately for those who will receive the Gospel immediately." -kww

"However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in Heaven." Words of Jesus, Luke‬ ‭10‬:‭20‬ ‭NIV

Perfection

Holiness and/or Christian perfection is not about an absolute perfection but about a relative perfection and has to do with us becoming/fulfilling all the Creator intended/desires us to be.

Example: A watch that keeps perfect time is "perfect" in this sense; it fulfills what the watchmaker had in mind when it was designed -- it keeps perfect time.

"But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect." Words of Jesus, Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭48‬ ‭NLT

"But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, "You must be holy because I am holy." 1 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭15‬-‭16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Do we desire to perfectly fulfill/to be all our Creator God had/has in mind for us? To be holy? To love the Lord our God with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength and to love others as we love ourselves?

“For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.” Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

My Wife, Worships Always

A vulnerable moment… my wife, Kim, is more of a behind-the-scenes servant of Jesus. Her partnership alongside me in life has been and continues to be such a beautiful sacrifice of love. Those who know her, know that she loves the Lord with unwavering and dedicated loyalty. Sometimes, like today, she walks past me with her AirPods in as she sings along. Today, she passed by me, so visibly lost in wonder, love and praise and singing one of her favorites by CeCe Winans, "The Goodness of God." It is such tender sacredness to my soul to be married to a lady who worships our God always. -kww

A Really Hard Day

"Whenever we are tempted to think we are having a particularly hard day, Jesus, contrast our thinking by causing us to imagine what a REALLY hard day looked like for You… Amen." -kww

Here’s A Really Hard Day in Words…

"And they brought Jesus unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull. And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not. And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take. And it was the third hour, and they crucified him. And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS. And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left. And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors. And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save. Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him. And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias. And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down. And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost. And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom. And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God." Mark‬ ‭15‬:‭22‬-‭29‬, ‭31‬-‭39‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Since We Are His Children

"…God sent His Son… so that He could adopt us as His very own children… and now we can call God our dear Father… and since we are His children, everything He has belongs to us." Portions from Galatians 4:4-7 [NLT, 1996 Edition]

Enemies in Your Own Household

These words of Jesus were for much of my life mostly mysterious, yet since the year 2020, the words especially seem to be reality in too many families:

“Your enemies will be right in your own household!’” Matthew‬ ‭10‬:‭36‬ ‭NLT

It saddens me deeply and makes my intercessory prayers more fervent than ever. As sin separates loved ones, my heart cries out: “Lord have mercy” and “Maranatha!” -kww
