Spiritual Warfare -- My Prayer

Lord Jesus, one thing you always expected and always encountered on earth was spiritual warfare. Forgive us when we’re surprised if and when we encounter spiritual warfare. Forgive us for not expecting it as those who belong exclusively to You. Help us to remember, we do have an adversary, the devil.

If we are to be Your true children of light, Lord, surely darkness is going to do its best to snuff out Your Light within us. Lost souls are hoping we will become light and shine it in their direction. Lord help us to be faithful. Let the lower lights be burning.

Finally, Jesus, You are The Light of the World and because we are carriers of Your Presence, we too become Your lights of the world.

Shine upon us and within us and through us for Your Glory and for the good of seemingly hopeless people everywhere who have yet to meet You and to know You as the Wonderful One Who makes a way where there seems to be no way. Let it happen. In Your Name, Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Speaking of Spiritual Warfare, this high-spirited song came across my day after I’d written the prayer blog above. It really lifted my soul. It’s a good spiritual warfare anthem if you ask me — The Martins singing: "Shut De Do / or Shut the door, keep out the devil."
