Holy Spirit, Your Kindness Humbles Me

Last evening, Monday, I preached the final of four revival messages at Pitman Church of the Nazarene of New Jersey. As a result, I must say and pray: “Holy Spirit, Your Kindness Humbles Me!”

There really is nothing on earth quite like the local
church. After spending four meetings and lots of fellowship time with the people of Pitman Nazarene, my heart is wondrously warmed.

I have made it clear since taking the position as district superintendent of the Philadelphia District, that I will be present as often as possible with the local pastors and local churches. To me, all church is local. In other words, I believe the general church and the district church exists to serve the local church.

Speaking of the local church, I believe the local church needs to have at least one yearly season of revival, yes, an on-purpose spiritual renewal time. Revival offers so many beautiful realities, none greater in my view than the correction of spiritual slippage in our own souls. In the two revivals I have already helped lead — West Chester and Pitman — I have seen all who participated draw undeniably nearer to Jesus as we also came to see more clearly His mission “to seek and to save those who are lost.”

I am thrilled to know that I have six more local church revivals up ahead on my preaching calendar. I believe God’s presence will be real at each gathering and that we will all be wonderfully changed. Join me in personal prayer: “Holy Spirit, Your Kindness Humbles Me!”
