The China Cup Lesson

Years ago, a pastor friend of mine, Reuggy, taught me these lessons about how ladies should choose a husband and how men should treat ladies. I taught this to my own son and daughter.

Ladies, there are 3 ways a man can treat you:

(1) Awful -- like a paper cup, use you up and throw you out.

(2) Average -- like a coffee cup in the floor board of the car that is washed every once and a while. You can be treated like nothing special. 

(3) Awesome -- You should be cherished and treasured like a fine china tea cup. Every occasion of your life is sacred.  A china cup is gently hand-washed and always kept securely in a clean and safe location (e.g. a china cabinet). 

Daughters, please CHOOSE to be BELOVED, not broken. 

Sons, always treat ladies like daughters of The Living God -- Awesome.

Take Note, Take Time, God's Greatness

I just looked at my wife, Kim, and said, "Our God is Great!!!"

Today, I encourage you simply but profoundly to take note of how Awesome our Creator God really is! I mean, literally, go out into His Creation and ask Him to show you something marvelous that He has made that you have never noticed closely.

I fear that too often we minimize His greatness by not taking time to recognize how Awesome He really is, and then we double the insult by not Magnifying His Name in the afterglow of that realization.

Autumn Applause For An Awesome Creator

Today, I was blessed to ride a friend's four-wheeler through the mountains that connect Virginia and West Virginia. It was an amazing experience to see the seasons changing as the setting sun provided a golden heavenly light on the breath-taking fall foliage. If the autumn colors do not confirm that we have an Awesome Creator, I don't know what does! It was apparent to me that the marvelous mountains and the brilliant trees were united in glorious singing and adoring applause for our Almighty God.

The mountains and hills will burst into song and the trees of the field will clap their hands! -- Isaiah 55:12 (NLT)

Best Advice Ever

I was recently surfing the website of a college baseball team. One of the freshman players is a new friend of mine. I eventually found his personal profile page. While the whole page glorifies God, one question in the interview section especially touched my heart. When the young ball player was asked to share the best advice he had ever been given, he simply but profoundly answered: Proverbs 3:5-6. WOW! What an awesome answer!

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT) (5) Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. (6) Seek His will in all you do, and He will direct your paths.

Today, consider yourself a recipient of the best advice ever. (According to a 19-year-old baseball catcher named Billy, who also happens to have a great heart for God.)
