(1) Hallelujah!
It is good to sing psalms to our God.
It is pleasant to sing His praise beautifully.
(2) The Lord is the builder of Jerusalem.
He is the one who gathers the outcasts of Israel together.
(3) He is the healer of the brokenhearted.
He is the one who bandages their wounds.
(4) He determines the number of stars.
He gives each one a name.
(5) Our Lord is great, and His power is great.
There is no limit to His understanding.
(6) The Lord gives relief to those who are oppressed.
He brings wicked people down to the ground.
-- Psalm 147:1-6 (GWT)

Nobody Escapes Being Wounded
Nobody escapes being wounded. We all are wounded people, whether physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually. The main question is not "How can we hide our wounds?" so we don't have to be embarrassed, but "How can we put our woundedness in the service of others?" When our wounds cease to be a source of shame, and become a source of healing, we have become wounded healers. Jesus is God's wounded healer: through His wounds we are healed. Jesus' suffering and death brought joy and life. His humiliation brought glory; His rejection brought a community of love.
-- Henri Nouwen
He was wounded for our rebellious acts. He was crushed for our sins. He was punished so that we could have peace, and we received healing from his wounds.

Sleep is Spiritual
...for He grants sleep to those He loves.
-- Psalm 127:2b (NIV)
Sometimes God cannot get at us until we are asleep.
-- Oswald Chambers
Dearest Loving Lord, just as a skilled surgeon cannot bring us healing until we are put to sleep so the problem can be addressed, You also, our Great Physician, come to us as we sleep to administer holy healing -- heart, mind, soul, and strength. So, especially as we receive from You the gift of sleep, search us during our seasons of spiritual slumber, our God, and make us whole. Restore and renew us according to Your wonderful will. In Jesus' name. Amen.
I know it's February, but as I think about sleep being a blessed, spiritual gift that God gives to His beloved ones, I can hear one Christmas Carol echoing from the heart strings of my being:

Your Gentle Whisper, Lord...
(11) The LORD said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake.
(12) After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.
(13) When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
-- 1 Kings 19:11-13 (NIV)
Almighty Personal God...
Today, I pray that we as Your beloved ones
will hear Your holy and healing voice.
Yes, according to Your pure and perfect desires for us --
after the winds have blown
and the earthquakes have shook,
and the fires have threatened --
allow us to hear Your gentle whisper, Lord,
inviting us out of the dark caves of this life
and into Your loving and everlasting light.
We pray in the Name of the One called
"The Light of the World."
We know that You alone, Almighty Personal God...
are worthy of all our worship and praise.
So as we wait to hear your gentle whisper, Lord,
Here we are to worship You!
Amen.

Wonderful, Merciful Savior
Tina, a voice from Heaven in our local church family, sings and recorded a song written and recorded by the contemporary group Selah. The words moved my heart so wonderfully recently that I listened to the song about five times in a row. May the lyrics inspire Your love for our Lord, today:
Wonderful, merciful Saviour, precious Redeemer and Friend.
Who would've thought that a Lamb could,
Rescue the souls of men.
Oh, You rescue the souls of men.
Counselor, Comforter, Keeper, Spirit we long to embrace.
You offer hope when our hearts have,
Hopelessly lost our way.
Oh, we've hopelessly lost the way.
CHORUS:
You are the One that we praise.
You are the One we adore.
You give the healing and grace,
Our hearts always hunger for.
Oh, our hearts always hunger for.
Almighty, infinite Father, faithfully loving Your own.
Here in our weakness You find us,
Falling before Your throne.
Oh, we're falling before Your throne.
IF MY PEOPLE... WILL? I WILL! God's Promise in 2 Chron. 7:14.

Need Wings? Wait on the Lord.
Isaiah 40:31 has really been an encouragement to my soul: But those who wait on the LORD will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint (NLT).
And Malachi 4:2 also adds inspiration to Isaiah's words: But for you who fear My name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in His wings (NLT).
Keep waiting, His Help and Healing is on the way.

We Kneel, He Lifts?
Could it be that a humble kneeling posture on our part might cause our lives to be lifted by God's healing power?
Then if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land. -- 2 Chron. 7:14 (NLT)
But those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. -- Matthew 23:12 (NLT)

Beauty For Ashes
Crystal Lewis sings one of my favorites songs based on Isaiah 61:3. Here are the lovely lyrics:
He gives beauty for ashes
Strength for fear
Gladness for mourning
Peace for despair
When sorrow seems to surround you
When suffering hangs heavy o'er your head
Know that tomorrow brings Wholeness and healing
God knows your need
Just believe what He said
He gives beauty for ashes
Strength for fear
Gladness for mourning
Peace for despair
When what you've done keeps you from moving on
When fear wants to make itself at home in your heart
Know that forgiveness brings
Wholeness and healing
God knows your need
Just believe what He said
He gives beauty for ashes
Strength for fear
Gladness for mourning
Peace for despair
I once was lost but God has found me
Though I was bound I've been set free
I've been made righteous in His sight
A display of His splendor all can see
He gives beauty for ashes
Strength for fear
Gladness for mourning
Peace for despair
To all who mourn in Israel, He will give beauty for ashes, joy instead of mourning, praise instead of despair. For the LORD has planted them like strong and graceful oaks for His own glory.

The Power of Prayer, Praise, and Confession
James 5 contains these verses of encouragement for those of us who will believe in The Power of Prayer, Praise, and Confession:
(13) Are any among you suffering? They should keep on praying about it. And those who have reason to be thankful should continually sing praises to the Lord.
(14) Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord.
(15) And their prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make them well. And anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven.
(16) Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results.
(17) Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for the next three and a half years!
(18) Then he prayed for rain, and down it poured. The grass turned green, and the crops began to grow again. (New Living Translation)
ALL JOY!
