2) Understand that humility is a trait that one does in sight of God.
3) Understand that God does not tolerate pride in any form. He puts it down.

We have no grounds for being anything but humble, in God's eyes. If that's so, why not be humble all the time, since we are in God's eyes all the time? Do I achieve this? I'm afraid not.
Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
1 Peter 5:6-7
You can't give Him your cares without first humbling yourself.
