This morning one of the first prayers from the depths of my soul to God was, "Lord, I thirst for You!" How amazing when in my Bible reading, I came immediately upon Psalm 42. (I love when that happens.)
Read on and see if Psalm 42 from God's Word Translation helps you today as it has helped me.
(1) As a deer longs for flowing streams,
so my soul longs for You, O God.
(2) My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When may I come to see God’s face?
(3) My tears are my food day and night.
People ask me all day long, “Where is your God?”
(4) I will remember these things as I pour out my soul:
how I used to walk with the crowd
and lead it in a procession to God’s house.
I sang songs of joy and thanksgiving
while crowds of people celebrated a festival.
(5) Why are you discouraged, my soul?
Why are you so restless?
Put your hope in God,
because I will still praise Him.
He is my Savior and my God.
(6) My soul is discouraged.
That is why I will remember You
in the land of Jordan, on the peaks of Hermon, on Mount Mizar.
(7) One deep sea calls to another at the roar of Your waterspouts.
All the whitecaps on Your waves have swept over me.
(8) The Lord commands His mercy during the day,
and at night His song is with me —
a prayer to the God of my life.
(9) I will ask God, my Rock,
“Why have You forgotten me?
Why must I walk around in mourning
while the enemy oppresses me?”
(10) With a shattering blow to my bones,
my enemies taunt me.
They ask me all day long, “Where is your God?”
(11) Why are you discouraged, my soul?
Why are you so restless?
Put your hope in God,
because I will still praise Him.
He is my Savior and my God.

God Will Not Abandon You
Today, as God's people, let us hold onto these words of encouragement spoken by the outgoing leader, Moses, to the incoming leader, Joshua, as all the people listened on:
Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; He will neither fail you nor abandon you.
-- Deuteronomy 31:8 (NLT)
By Faith! In Faith! (Hebrews 11)

Seemingly Hopeless
The Lord is near to those who are discouraged. He saves those who have lost all hope. -- Psalm 34:18 (Good News Translation)
Lord, I rejoice because my soul is revived in knowing that when things are seemingly hopeless, the key word is seemingly. My Hope is certainly sure and my Hope has a name -- "JESUS!" Amen.
IF MY PEOPLE... WILL? I WILL! God's Promise in 2 Chron. 7:14.
Grateful

As Long As We Sing Praises to Our King
Could it be possible that as long as we sing praises to our King, that nothing can break us?
(1) I will praise the Lord no matter what happens. I will constantly speak of his glories and grace. (2) I will boast of all his kindness to me. Let all who are discouraged take heart. (3) Let us praise the Lord together and exalt his name. -- Psalm 34:1-3 (TLB)
You keep me singing, Jesus. Amen.
IF MY PEOPLE... WILL? I WILL! God's Promise in 2 Chron. 7:14.
