Live in His Love or Die in Our Sin

Let us choose to live in the Father's House of Love or else we will die in our pig pen of sin!

And I will dwell (live) in the house of the Lord forever.

Obvious Masks that Scared People Wear

A while back, my wife and I visited New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, for the very first time. One of the shops we browsed in near the riverfront had walls and walls covered with masks for the annual Mardi Gras "celebrations". It got me thinking about the many masks we are tempted to put on in our everyday lives.

Perhaps there are no more obvious masks that scared people wear, yes, no more positive proofs of full-bloom fear than when we are found in these two destructive disguises:
#1: arrogance and #2: isolation.

I am so blessed to be an island boy by birth, but I have no desire to live now and/or die later as an island. No, I am not independent! I pray that I will never again be found posing in arrogance and/or lost in isolation.

We really do need each other.

Who Are We Trusting?

Stop trusting the power of humans. They are all going to die, so how can they help?

When I Am Overwhelmed...

When I am overwhelmed,
You alone know the way I should turn.

-- Psalm 142:3a (NLT)

My personal edit of a powerful prayer adapted from John and Charles Wesley's Covenant Service:

Lord Jesus, here we are, lost creatures apart from You, and enemies to God, under His wrath and curse. Lord, undertake for us, reconcile us to God, and save our souls. You have promised not to refuse us, for we have nowhere else to go. If we had come in our own righteousness, you would with good reason have sent us away; but since we come at the command of the Father, and because of Your great love, we know You will not reject us. We come, Lord. We believe, Lord. We throw ourselves upon Your grace and mercy. We cast ourselves upon Your blood. Do not refuse us. We have nowhere else to go. We need nowhere else to go. Here in Your presence is where we belong. Here in Your presence is where we will remain. On You we will trust, and rest. On You we lay our hope for pardon, for purity, for life, and for salvation. If we perish, we perish on Your shoulders. If we sink, we sink in Your ship. If we die, we die on Your doorstep. Do not ask us to leave, for we will not leave. We will abandon ourselves to You, not from You. You alone are our Life, our Lord, our Everything.

God, I (We) Need You!

Here & Hereafter

What an amazing "here" and what an awesome "hereafter" is ours in Christ Jesus!

For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

How to Die Blessed

Then I heard a voice from Heaven say, "Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." -- Revelation 14:13 (NIV)
