The Need to Pray... Transparently. "Search Me."

Today, Ash Wednesday, I am keenly aware of the need to pray... transparently... "Search Me, Oh God..."

You can join me if you want?

Dearest Loving Father God...

You know me inside and out.
Whatever's going on at anytime and at all times...
... within my heart, mind, soul, and body?
You surely know about it and you certainly care about me!
Oh, how I need Your vigilant watch-care over me.

Today, I humbly ask that the mind of Your Son, Jesus Christ...
...would be one-in-the-same with my own mind.
My thoughts have been somewhat scattered these days of late.
People I desperately care for are struggling in many ways.
Oh, how we all depend upon Your intervention in our lives.

Daily, I realize that the decisions before me are many.
Dear God, be my Holy Wisdom and save me from human foolishness.
Moment-by-moment be my Strength to resist the unrelenting enemy.
I want to always look to Jesus and live a life pleasing to Heaven.
Oh, how devastated we all were by death until You gave Your Son!

Finally, precious Almighty Personal God...
I want to want what You want in every situation and circumstance.
Take my desires day-by-day and search them carefully...
... and cleanse me with Your amazing grace and boundless mercy.
Oh, how You, Lord, are my Everything for All-Time and Eternity.

In the Name of The One Called...
Wonder Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, I pray.
Amen and Amen and Amen.

Good News: Just Trust the Divine Design!

Need Good News for today? Here is what has been on my heart recently:

Rest assured that our Good God engineers the circumstances in our lives.
If we will Just Trust Him totally today, we will one day see the divine design He's had in mind...
...from the very beginning of time...
(actually, even before time began.)

5 Trust the Lord with all your heart,
and do not rely on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will make your paths smooth.

-- Proverbs 3:5-6 (GWT)

Father God, give to us the mind of Christ.
Help us to Believe and to Be...

Don't Be Captured by High-Sounding Nonsense

8Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ. 9 For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. 10 So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.
-- Colossians 2:8-10 (NLT)

Abba Father, give to us the mind of Christ!

In Prayer... Your Mind... Mine.

My heart's prayer to the Lord early this morning came across my lips aloud like this:

Lord, in prayer, let Your mind... be mine.

In John 15 the Lord tells us to bear fruit that will last. There is no way we will ever bear eternal fruit apart from a prayer life here on earth that is one with the mind of Christ.

Let us pray.

Out-Heart, Out-Smart

Take courage believers. With our hearts purified by faith and the mind of Christ being formed within us, the enemy cannot out-heart us or out-smart us.

Dear children, you belong to God. So you have won the victory over these people, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

I Have Lost My Mind

This verse and this song so perfectly define my deepest desires.

For, “Who can know the Lord’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach Him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.
-- 1 Corinthians 2:16 (NLT)

Lord, let it be said of me, that I have lost my mind to gain God's!
In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Hardheaded As A Rock?

They have become as hardheaded as a rock.
They refuse to change their ways.

-- From Jeremiah 5:3 (NET)

Lord, in my prayer journal this morning I wrote these words with great conviction: "Deo Volente... still!" Yes, "Still in my life, I want whatever You want." God forbid that I should be a human that is hardheaded as a rock. Change me until I completely possess Your mind, Christ Jesus! I want to be tender and devoted to the touch and desires of Your precious Holy Spirit within me. So be it! Amen!

Consider Others More Important Than Yourselves

(3) Don't be jealous or proud, but be humble and consider others more important than yourselves. (4) Care about them as much as you care about yourselves (5) and think the same way that Christ Jesus thought. -- Philippians 2:3-5 (CEV)

Be Careful What You Think...

Recently, I had the privilege of attending our local Fellowship of Christian Athletes' Banquet. The speaker was Coach London, Head Football Coach at the University of Virginia. What a testimony he shared! One portion of his talk especially spoke to me. Here's my paraphrase of what he said:

Be careful what you think, your thoughts become your words.
Be careful what you say, your words will influence your actions.
Be careful how you act, your actions become your habits.
Be careful about your habits, your habits impact your character.
Be careful about your character, your character chooses your destiny.

Finally, my friends, keep your minds on whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, and proper. Don't ever stop thinking about what is truly worthwhile and worthy of praise.
-- Philippians 4:8 (CEV)

At all times and for all-time, I desire The Mind of Christ!

Know My Motives, Mind, Mysteries!

Holy Spirit, spiritually search, yes, scrutinize my soul.
Know my motives. Please, purify my heart with Your Holiness.
Know my mind. Let my thoughts become one with the Mind of Christ.
Know my mysteries. Lord forbid that some deep, dark mystery to me and in me would cause You misery.

(23) Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my thoughts.
(24) Point out anything in me that offends you,
and lead me along the path of everlasting life.

My Prayer Request Especially Today...

My prayer request especially today and even day-after-day resides in the mysterious and marvelous depths of this New Testament verse of Holy Scripture:

For, "Who can know what the Lord is thinking?
Who can give Him counsel?"

But we can understand these things,
for we have the mind of Christ.
-- 1 Corinthians 2:16 (NLT)

Lord, my prayer especially today is that I would know Your mind in all things. Within my thinking, give me Your Counsel at all times by the undeniable, indwelling, purifying presence of Your Precious Holy Spirit. My prayer will be the same tomorrow. In the Name of Jesus. Amen.

IF MY PEOPLE... WILL? I WILL! God's Promise in 2 Chron. 7:14.
