Trusting God Totally At All Times

After 51 years of thinking about and dealing with the complexities associated with living on planet earth, I have concluded that "trusting God totally" with every aspect of life is the only way to truly survive.

Even at 51-years-old, I am amazed at how many life-issues confound me in such a way that I cannot "think my way through" them. More and more, I just find myself having to simply and profoundly decide whether or not I will "trust God totally" or not. Will I hold on tightly to the things that confuse me or will I surrender all things, all-the-time, to His care?

I have two thoughts on my mind right now. One of the thoughts is a line from an old hymn of the church, "I Surrender All". The line is "I will ever love and trust Him". My second immediate thought is a verse of Scripture that our family clung to in our faith-building days at Bible college in 1992-1994. The Scripture was and still is 1 Peter 5:7 (NKJV) -- ... casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

If You Will Live For Him?

After an 18-day overseas trip and spending time with God's people across Europe, Asia, and The Middle East, this passage was strong on my mind this morning so I shared it with our local church at offering time. I hope it speaks to you God's peace that surpasses all understanding:

(31) So don't worry about having enough food or clothing. (32) Why be like the pagans who are so deeply concerned about these things? Your Heavenly Father already knows all your needs. (33) and He will give you all you need from day to day if you will live for Him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern.

God is Here, There, And Everywhere!

Fill your mind with the thought that God is there. And once your mind is truly filled with that thought, when you experience difficulties it will be as easy as breathing for you to remember, “My heavenly Father knows all about this!”
-- Oswald Chambers

(7) I can never escape from Your Spirit!
I can never get away from Your presence!
(8) If I go up to heaven, You are there;
if I go down to the grave, You are there.
(9) If I ride the wings of the morning,
if I dwell by the farthest oceans,
(10) even there Your hand will guide me,
and Your strength will support me.
(11) I could ask the darkness to hide me
and the light around me to become night—
(12) but even in darkness I cannot hide from You.
To You the night shines as bright as day.
Darkness and light are the same to You.

-- Psalm 139:7-12 (NLT)

I Have Been Young. Now I Am Older.

I turned 50-years-old on June 12, 2011, Pentecost Sunday. I have been young and now I am older, and what amazes me most is the faithfulness of my Father God day-by-day over the years.

Yesterday I sent this message to a dear friend, whose faith is presently on trial: God knows. God cares. God provides.

My friend sent back this message in reply: I believe it. God has never let me down.

Then I sent back to my friend this verse of Scripture:
I have been young, and now I am old,
but I have never seen a righteous person abandoned
or his descendants begging for food.
