Prayer for a New Year -- Grateful and Hopeful
Dearest our Almighty Personal God:
As an old year sets on the horizon behind us and a new year rises on the horizon before us, we find ourselves looking back knowing we are grateful and looking ahead knowing we are hopeful.
We are grateful for Your faithfulness so far in our yesterdays, Dearest Lord.
As a result, we are hopeful, yes, we do believe You will also prove trustworthy in our tomorrows.
We are grateful for the ways You have loved us in so many attentive, assuring and amazing ways in the past.
Now, we are hopeful because we know Your proven love for us will continue to be unconditional, undeniable and unending in our future.
As we glance backward we realize that no weapon against us has prospered and for this we are totally grateful.
As we focus forward we remember the battle will always belong to You, our Lord, and for this we are forever hopeful.
You, our Lord, have never left us alone in the days and nights we have known You, so truly we are grateful.
Without doubt, You, our Lord, will never abandon us in the days and nights we have yet to live, even in the valley of the shadow of death we will fear no evil for You are present and will remain with us. Once we have passed through even death itself, we will arise again to live with You forevermore -- so surely we are off-the-charts hopeful.
In Your Wonderful Name, we say and pray all of these things with humility, yet quite confidently, all-the-while giving thanks to You and having hope in You, yes You alone, Amen.

One Final Christmas Song and a New Personal Prayer
As another Christmas season slips away, here’s one final Christmas song and a new personal prayer that I was inspired to pray as I was waking up this morning:
My prayer: "Lord, please increase Your Love within me for my loved ones and all others, too."
And here’s the song:

Sounds Like New Good News
Lyrics in Christmas carols are some of the best good news words we have. Every year it seems an old Christmas carol somehow sounds like new good news to me. It happened again this year.
Here’s the song lyrics below, and the words that touched me most deeply are written in all caps. (I heard an acoustic band singing the words of this old Christmas carol and it really resonated with my never-dying soul and caused me inward rejoicing.)
"God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen"
God rest ye merry gentlemen
Let nothing you dismay.
Remember, Christ our Savior
Was born on Christmas Day
TO SAVE US ALL FROM SATAN’S POWER
WHEN WE WERE GONE ASTRAY
Oh tidings of comfort and joy
Comfort and joy
Oh tidings of comfort and joy
Presence Matters Most! No Invisible People.
