Anticipating The Hope of Christmas

It may seem a little early to some, but I am already anticipating Christmas. The thought of Christmas on the horizon — in undeniable ways — has served as hope for my own heart most — if not all — years of my life.

Yesterday, a printed invitation landed in mail boxes across The Philadelphia District Church of the Nazarene. Yes, the first vision God gave me as leader was to invite my dear friend, Brian Arner, in for a Sunday afternoon district dinner and Christmas concert. I’ve been inviting our people to save the date for six months. Yes, it’s that important to me that we as a district family of faith, hope, and love experience Christmas together.

Too often, as pastors and church leaders, it’s too easy to simply host Christmas in our local churches but to miss exhaling and celebrating Christmas for ourselves. So this concert is literally our gift — Pastor Kerry and Kim’s gift — to our district leaders. While everyone will pay for their own meal, the concert itself is a gift. It was paid for in full during the summer. The first gift of Christmas.

If you’re a pastor or a leader on the district you should revive an invitation. Get registered soon, please. If you’re not a pastor or a leader on the district, please join us in prayer asking God to recreate the Hope of Christmas in the Heart of The Philadelphia District Church of the Nazarene.

That is... Presence. Unity. Souls. Love.

Pastor Kerry Willis
