"Rest Easy"

"Rest Easy" is a song I recently heard on Christian radio. Andrew Peterson sings it. It touches me in the deep places of my heart. I think it will inspire you with hope as well.

You are not alone
I will always be with you
Even to the end

You don’t have to work so hard
You can rest easy
You don’t have to prove yourself
You’re already mine
You don’t have to hide your heart
I already love you
I hold it in mine
So you can rest easy

Do not be afraid
Nothing, nothing in the world
Can come between us now

You don’t have to work so hard
You can rest easy
You don’t have to prove yourself
You’re already mine
You don’t have to hide your heart
I already love you
I hold it in mine
So you can rest easy

You work so hard to wear yourself down
And you’re running like a rodeo clown
You’re smiling like you’re scared to death
You’re out of faith and all out of breath
You’re so afraid you’ve got nowhere left to go

Well, you are not alone
I will always be with you

You don’t have to work so hard
You can rest easy
You don’t have to prove yourself
You’re already mine
You don’t have to hide your heart
I already love you
I hold it in mine
You can rest easy

When We Are... The Lord Is...

This verse has been my soul's inspiration as I have been in Scripture saturation.

The Lord is my strength and my song.
He is my Savior.
-- Psalm 118:14 (GWT)

When we are... at our weakest, The Lord is... still The Strongest!

What is The Death of Prayer?

Selfishness is the death of prayer.
-- Andrew Murray

Lord, let self-centeredness stay dead in my life,
so that prayer can stay alive.
In Jesus' name. Amen.

Pride is From Hell

Blessed are the meek...
-- Words of Jesus in Matthew 5:5a (KJV)

There is no way to get to Heaven except by meekness, by entirely dying to our pride, and by living entirely in the lowliness of Jesus. Pride gives no rest. Pride is from Hell. Pride must die or nothing of Heaven can live in us.
-- Andrew Murray

Let us surrender our lives entirely to the Blood of the Lamb, exchanging our pride for His meekness.

Everything Needed to Please God

What God did in Christ is the pledge of what He will do in us.
-- Andrew Murray

 Pray for us.
We have no doubts about what we’re doing or why,
but it’s hard going and we need your prayers.
All we care about is living well before God.
Pray that we may be together soon.
May God, who puts all things together,
makes all things whole,
Who made a lasting mark through the sacrifice of Jesus,
the sacrifice of blood that sealed the eternal covenant,
Who led Jesus, our Great Shepherd,
up and alive from the dead,
Now put you together, provide you
with everything you need to please Him,
Make us into what gives Him most pleasure,
by means of the sacrifice of Jesus, the Messiah.
All glory to Jesus forever and always!
Oh, yes, yes, yes.
-- Hebrews 13:18-21 (The Message)

Keeping It Together

How can we not lose our souls when everything and everybody pulls us in the most different directions? How can we "keep it together" when we are constantly torn apart?

Jesus says: "Not a hair of your head will be lost. Your perseverance will win you your lives" (Luke 21:18-19).

We can only survive our world when we trust that God knows us more intimately than we know ourselves. We can only keep it together when we believe that God holds us together. We can only win our lives when we remain faithful to the truth that every little part of us, yes, every hair, is completely safe in the divine embrace of our Lord.

To say it differently: When we keep living a spiritual life, we have nothing to be afraid of.
- Henri Nouwen

Jesus is our Way of "keeping it together".

The Best Part of the Good News

Too often it seems we look for the Kingdom of God in all the wrong places. Listen to where Jesus said the Kingdom of God is located:

They can't say, 'Here it is!' or 'There it is!' You see, the Kingdom of God is within you."
-- Luke 17:21 (GWT)

Lord, the Best Part of the Good News is that because the Kingdom is within us, then surely You, our King of Kings, reign on the throne of our lives. Let us not make become idolaters by searching here and there and everywhere for a kingdom, but give us eyes for You alone, our King of Glory!  Surely, if we seek You, our King, with all of our hearts, once we find You we will find Your Kingdom (within ourselves) as well. Amen.

Thy Kingdom come, Thy will Be Done, within us, as it is in Heaven!
