What It Really Means To Worship The Lord

(6)I'll tell you what it really means to worship the LORD. Remove the chains of prisoners who are chained unjustly. Free those who are abused! (7) Share your food with everyone who is hungry; share your home with the poor and homeless. Give clothes to those in need; don't turn away your relatives. (8) Then your light will shine like the dawning sun, and you will quickly be healed. Your honesty will protect you as you advance, and the glory of the LORD will defend you from behind. (9) When you beg the LORD for help, He will answer, "Here I am!"
-- Isaiah 58:6-9 (CEV)

Pastor Kerry, Thank you for this posting of the passage Isaiah 58:6-9. As it has been for the past 11 years the lord has spoken to me thru you! I have struggled most my life in many different ways, but the one constant in my life has been my faith. There are things in this passage that reminds me who I am and am suppose to be, it reconfirms to me who he wants me to be no matter what the struggles, and not to give in to society. I have wanted to have a conversation with you, Pastor Kerry, for a long time, and this is the first time I have ever blogged, with anyone so saying that,I hope it's ok to kind of pour out my soul a little. I have a major trust issue with people, I have been emotionally hurt by most of the people in devastating ways who I should have been able to trust with my heart. The only person in my life who has never broke my heart, is my savior God the Father, the son and the holy ghost. When I first moved to this area in the Christmas season of 1999 I was looking for a church. Pam Lamasny worked with my sister at Cargill, she invited me to First Church, (I have been to many different churches in my life I am about to turn 54 next month. I was baptized as a Catholic, made my confirmation in the church at 31, was baptized by immersion at a Baptist church in Jan of 1998, and again baptized at First Church by you a few years ago)From the first time I came to this church I felt the spirit of God within your church, I felt like I was home where I belonged. I decided to become a member. The thing that stuck out the most from that day was something you said to me and you really didn't know me. You introduced my family to the congregation and said, my name then told the congregation that I am a faithful servant of the Lord. The next thing you said to all the new members standing there was that you wanted to apologize in advance because you knew that there would probably be a time that you disappointed us. You smiled and said "I'm only human, I make mistakes" but that the Lord doesn't make mistakes. For 11 years of faithfully attending I finally have the courage to write this to you. I know there is more God wants from me I know he wants me to share his love and word with more than I do now, I need prayer to break this trust issue I have with people. You are an honest man and I feel you may be the person who can give me guidance, encouragement and possibly the courage to do all that he wants of me. I believe God is telling me it is ok to trust you. I apologize for this being a little lengthy, I could sit and write for hours, I look forward to hear Gods message the next time I sit before you. In his love, your sister in Christ

Saying you don't have time to worship God is like saying you don't have time to breathe. If you don't breathe, you die. If you don't worship, you'll wither and live small.

My belief is that there is no designated time to worship, it is constant in every moment of our life, it is a very individual thing just like our relationship is very personal and individual with our savior. We all have our own individual path according to him. There are many things in today's society that try to throw you off the track, and when you have a minute it's important to make sure you seek his purpose for that bump, pick yourself back up get back on the track and trust he knows what he is doing in our life. In his love. Your sister in Christ
