What Sorrow

(11) What sorrow for those who get up early in the morning
looking for a drink of alcohol
and spend long evenings drinking wine
to make themselves flaming drunk.
(12) They furnish wine and lovely music at their grand parties—
lyre and harp, tambourine and flute—
but they never think about the Lord
or notice what He is doing.

-- Isaiah 5:11-12 (NLT)

Lord, I never want to be so numb that I never think about You or notice what You are doing.

Alcohol is counterproductive
to the abundant life that Jesus came to bring us. He knows the
devastating impact alcohol has on countless people. He sees the jobs
lost, the families shattered, and the lives destroyed by alcohol, and He
wants to protect us from these things. He has a plan for your life that
is far greater than any bottle of alcohol could ever possibly give.
