My Stupidity

In my native eastern North Carolina home, there's "a kicking machine" alongside Highway 70. Yes, when I was a boy, my Grandaddy Gray explained to me how it worked. You would deposit a quarter in the machine, stand yourself on the "X", bend yourself over, and a mechanical boot would kick you square in the seat of the pants.

Reading Jeremiah's words I am reminded of that unusual contraption:

I turned away from God, but then I was sorry. I kicked myself for my stupidity! I was thoroughly ashamed of all I did in my younger days.
-- Jeremiah 31:19 (NLT)

I will ever love and trust Him. In His presence daily live.

Forgive me for what I’ve done father,
For I know it was wrong,
Forgive me for my actions father,
For my empty air of thoughts,
For My stupidity which I thought was wisdom,
For my many selfish ways,
For not coming to you when I needed someone,
For playing my life as a game,
For the moments I didn’t cherish,
For not taking your way,
But still by my side you stayed father,
Still unconditional love you gave,
Forgive me for not giving it back to you father

I am so glad my past in under The Blood of Jesus and my present and future are in His Holy Nail-scared Hands. Mercy came running my way.

A Kicking machine? Profiting from masochism, I guess.

It was unique. it is actually still there as a roadside museum piece of sorts.
